That's the Chicago way
Comrade President Obama has just the type of mortgage you'd expect for a Chicago politician. One of Tony Rezko's attorneys owns the house.
God has great timing
I'm both saddened and bemused by the timing of this event.

GALL, PURE, UN-MITIGATED GALL
Our beloved ruling class have decide amongst themselves that they deserve an increase in remuneration.
It appears that they have all been doing a spectacular job in governance.

What I Am - a full page ad paid for by a private citizen
You’re a Republican???
In today’s America, ask a growing number of high school and college students; their teachers and professors; the self-anointed media elite and/or hard working men and women of all ethnicities, the question, “What is a Republican?”, and you’ll be told “… a rich, greedy, egotistical individual, motivated only by money and the desire to accumulate more and more of it, at the expense of the environment … the working poor ….and all whom they exploit…”
I am a Republican … I am none of those things… and I don’t know any Republicans who are.
WHAT I AM …
first and foremost, is a loving husband of some 52 plus years, the father of four and an American who’s proud of his country… and his country’s heritage.
WHAT I AM …
is the grandson of immigrants who risked everything, including their lives and those of their children, to escape tyranny in search of freedom.
WHAT I AM …
is a man who grew up during the Depression and witnessed, first hand, the effects of the Stock Market crash and the soup lines that followed. I watched as both my parents and grand parents, who had very little themselves, share what food they had with a half dozen other families, who had even less.
WHAT I AM …
is someone who worked his way through college by holding down three and four jobs at a time and then used that education to build a better life.
WHAT I AM …
is a husband who, at age 24, started his own business for the “privilege” of working 60, 70 and 80 hours a week, risking everything I had, including my health, in search of a better life for myself and my loved ones.
WHAT I AM …
is a businessman whose blood, sweat and tears…. and plenty of them…, made it possible for me to provide a secure living, not only for my family and myself, but also for literally hundreds of my employees throughout the years. Employees, who in turn, were able to buy their own homes, raise their own families and give back to their communities and their country.
WHAT I AM …
is a man who believes in God; a God who has blessed this country… and all for which it stands.
WHAT I AM …
is someone who knows, if you doubt miracles exist in today’s world, you need only to look into the face of those who received them … and the eyes of those who give them.
WHAT I AM …
is an American who’s proud that his President embraces a belief in God; proud of a President who understands, as “politically incorrect” as it may be, there is evil in this world and for the security and safety of all freedom loving people everywhere, it must be confronted… and it must be defeated.
WHAT I AM …
is an American who takes comfort in the knowledge that our President refuses to allow decisions concerning the very safety and security of this nation, to be governed by the political whims of foreign governments.
WHAT I AM …
is tired of hearing from leading Democrats who see only negativity in America; racism in her people; class warfare in her society and “political incorrectness” in her character.
WHAT I AM …
is a former democrat who now understands that it is the soldier and not the reporter that guarantees us our freedoms of press, speech and dissent.
WHAT I AM …
is a man who believes in the sanctity of life. A man who is repulsed by the pandering of the political left for votes, at the expense of the unborn.
WHAT I AM …
is a husband and father who believes in the sanctity of marriage and the preservation of the family unit.
WHAT I AM …
is a movie go-er who is repulsed by those insecure, socially inept, elementary thinking, ego-inflated “entertainers” who have appointed themselves “experts” in the fields of national security and geo-politics and then use their forum to attack this nation, its leaders and its actions…. much to the delight and encouragement of our enemies.
WHAT I AM …
is an American who understands the difference between “censorship” and “choice”. Evidently, these individuals do not, because when these same “celebrities” receive public ridicule for their offensive actions, the first thing they yell is “Censorship!”. What they seem incapable of understanding is… the right of free speech and dissent is shared equally by those offended… as well as those who offend. I support and will continue to support those films and performers whom I choose to … and refuse to support those I don’t. It is my right as an American … a right I will continue to enthusiastically exercise.
WHAT I AM …
is a voter, tired of politicians, who, every time their voting records are subjected to public scrutiny, try to divert attention from their political and legislative failures by accusing their opponents of “attack ads” and “negative campaigning”…. and the news media who allow them to get away with it.
WHAT I AM …
is a Catholic who loves his God and his Faith… and who’s been taught to respect all religions whose teachings are based in love, peace and charity. As such, I am embarrassed and ashamed of those individuals, in both private and public life, whose decisions and actions are devoid of any sense of character or morals; individuals who are only driven by what’s best for them … rather than what’s right … often times at the expense of many …. including our national security.
WHAT I AM …
is a realist who understands that the terrorist attack that murdered hundreds of innocent Russian children could have occurred here, in our heartland. That’s why I sincerely believe America needs now, more than ever, a President who sees with a clear and focused vision and who speaks with a voice when heard by both friend and foe alike, is understood, respected and believed.
WHAT I AM …
is eternally grateful to Ronald Reagan for having the bravery to speak out against Communism and the courage of his convictions in leading the fight to defeat it; and George W. Bush for the vision, courage, conviction and leadership he has shown in America’s war on terrorism amidst both the constant and vicious, personal and political attacks both he and his family are made to endure.
WHAT I AM …
is a human being, full of numerous faults and failures, but a man nonetheless, who, though not always successful, has continually strived to do “what’s right” instead of “what’s easy”. A man who is challenging the religious leaders of all faiths, to not only preach to their congregations the fundamentals of “what’s right” and “what’s wrong”, but to also then hold them accountable for their actions in both the public and private sectors.
WHAT I AM …
is disgusted with the Courts who, on one hand, call the murder of a pregnant woman a “double homicide” but then refer to the abortion of her baby as, “pro-choice”.
WHAT I AM …
is someone deeply troubled by a political party which embraces a candidate whose primary “leadership” qualities center around his protesting of the Vietnam war and his labeling the honorable men and women who fought in it, (50,000 of whom gave their lives in that action), as rapists, and war criminals. That same political party then stepped forward this year to block the appearance of a true Vietnam war hero, retired Admiral and former United States Senator, Jeremiah Denton, (a man who spent seven years and seven torturous months in a North Vietnam prison), from speaking before an open session of the California legislature as part of that state’s 4th of July celebration. The reason Democrats gave for refusing to allow this American hero to speak before their state legislature was because of the “conservative” nature of his views. As an American, that troubles me deeply ….as well it should you.
WHAT I AM …
is a man who feels the need to spend, $104, 655.60,(tax paid) of his own money, to purchase this advertisement, in order to set the story straight. Some may say this money would have been better spent feeding the world’s poor. At the risk of sounding self-serving, as an American and as a Republican, for the last six decades of my life, I have done exactly that… and more. Following the examples of my parents and grand parents, I have used my earnings to feed the poor, shelter the homeless, provide housing for the elderly and medical care for the sick….. and continue to do so… and I’m not alone in that work.
WHAT I AM…
is someone who is paying for this announcement, at my sole expense, in hopes of opening the eyes of those led blindly by ill-informed elements of our great nation, who, through either ignorance, or malicious intent, repeatedly attack and belittle those of us who belong to a political party that holds true to the belief, “… the rights of the governed, exceed the power of the government”. For those interested, I am speaking only as a tax-paying individual who is in no way associated with The Republican National Committee, nor with any of its directors, or delegates.
WHAT I AM …
is a man who understands, “the American way of life” is a message of self-empowerment for all.
WHAT I AM …
is an American who is grateful that our nation gives each of us the opportunity of self-determination and the right to benefit from the fruits of self achievement.
WHAT I AM …
is an American who wants to preserve that way of life for all who seek it.
WHAT I AM …
is blessed to be an American…. and proud to be Republican.

The fallacies inherent in the current economic responce
Libertarians tell you why bigger government,
huge stimulus plans,
and Keynesian economics will only make the recession worse,
even if you stamp your tiny little feet and wish really, really hard.
Spend the seven minutes to inform yourself on this disaster that our ruling class is repeating.
It won’t hurt.
Honest.
Please share this video with anyone you know that has at least half-a-brain.

Detroit 3 Automakers - Union Wages - swiped from Greg Mix
Amazing!!!
Absolutely amazing.
Now here is some real smart Pelosi/Clinton Demonomics...
And this is an example of what middle America will pay for ! ! !
Unions ? ? ?
According to Forbes,
the labor cost per hour (wages and benefits) for UAW workers:
Ford - $70.51 ($141,020 per year)
GM - $73.26 ($146,520 per year)
Chrysler - $75.86 ($151,720 per year)
Toyota, Honda, Nissan (in U.S. ) - $48.00 ($96,000 per year)
According to AAUP and IES,
the average annual compensation for a college professor in 2006 was $92,973
(average salary nationally of $73,207 + 27% benefits).
Bottom Line:
The average UAW worker with a high school degree earns 57.6% more compensation than the average university professor with a Ph.D.,
and 52.6% more than the average worker at Toyota , Honda or Nissan.
Many industry analysts say the Detroit Three must be on par with Toyota and Honda to survive. This year's contract, they say, must be "transformational" in reducing pension and health care costs. What would "transformational" mean? One way to think about "transformational" would mean that UAW workers, most with a high school diploma, would have to accept compensation equal to that of the average university professor with a PhD.
Then there's the "Job Bank."
When a D3 (Detroit 3 carmaker)
lays an employee off, that employee continues to receive all benefits - medical, retirement, etc., etc., PLUS an hourly wage of $31/hour.

Here's a typical story....
Ken Pool is making good money. On weekdays, he shows up at 7 a.m. at Ford Motor Co.'s Michigan Truck Plant in Wayne, signs in, and then starts working -- on a crossword puzzle. Pool hates the monotony, but the pay is good: more than $31 an hour, plus benefits. "We just go in and play crossword puzzles, watch videos that someone brings in or read the newspaper," he says. "Otherwise, I just sit."
Pool is one of more than 12,000 American autoworkers who, instead of installing windshields or bending sheet metal, spend their days counting the hours in a jobs bank set up by Detroit automakers as demanded by the United Auto Workers Union - UAW - as part of an extraordinary job security agreement.
____________________
Now the D3 wants Joe Taxpayer to pick up this tab in a $25 Billion bailout package - soon to be increased to $45 Billion if Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton have their way.
The "Big 3" want this money, but not to build better autos.
No.
They want it to pay the tab for Medical and Retirement benefits for RETIRED auto workers.
Not ONE PENNY would be used to make them more competitive, or to improve the quality of their cars.
We ALL have problems paying for our Medical Insurance, but the Democrat leaders in Congress now want us to pay the Medical Insurance premiums of folks who have RETIRED from Ford, GM and Chrysler.
Not a good deal for us. How about Chapter 11 – and getting rid of these ridiculous union contracts?
Absolutely amazing.

Barney Frank on 60 Minutes
This gives a bit more dimension to the Massachusetts representative, but I still think he suffers from unthinking attacks of philanthropic zeal. Is this really the best Boston can do?
A scenario regarding gun control - stolen from Frances West
It is now closer to reality than you think.
You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door.
Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers;
at least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way.
With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.
You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it.
In the darkness, you make out two shadows.
One holds something that looks like a crowbar.
When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.
The blast knocks both thugs to the floor. One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.
As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.
In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless.
Yours was never registered.
Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died.
They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.
When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry; authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter. "What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.
"Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing.
"Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."
The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the local newspaper.
Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys. Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them. Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times. But the next day's headline says it all:
"Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die."
The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters.
As the days wear on, the story takes wings. The national media picks it up, then the international media. The surviving burglar has become a folk hero.
Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win.
The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects. After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time.
The District Attorney uses this to alledge that you were lying in wait for the burglars.
A few months later, you go to trial. The charges haven't been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted. When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you. Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man.
It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.
The judge sentences you to life in prison.
This case really happened.
On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England, killed one burglar and wounded a second.
In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term.
How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire?
It started with the Pistols Act of 1903.
This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license. The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns. Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.
Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerford mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead. The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control", demanded even tougher restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)
Nine years later, at Dunblane , Scotland , Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school.
For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable, or worse, criminals. Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners. Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns. The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearm still owned by private citizens.
During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism. Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun. Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released. Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying, "We cannot have people take the law into their own hands."
All of Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and several elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no fear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars. When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given three months to turn them over to local authorities.
Being good British subjects, most people obeyed the law. The few who didn't were visited by police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't comply. Police later bragged that they'd taken nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens
How did the authorities know who had handguns? The guns had been registered and licensed. Kinda like cars.
Sound familiar?
WAKE UP AMERICA , THIS IS WHY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS PUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT IN OUR CONSTITUTION
"..it does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.."

Which is the most corrupt set of cretins in power over us? - blatantly swiped from American Thinker
Parties of Corruption
Randall Hoven
Which party is more corrupt? Maybe you've seen lists. The National Taxpayer's Union has a pretty good list http://www.ntu.org/main/press.php?PressID=343. The NTU's gripe, though, is not which party is more corrupt, but that Congressmen who are convicted felons continue to collect their very generous congressional pensions. The NTU's list is of "Members of Congress Who Were Convicted of or Pled Guilty to Major Offenses, 1992-1999." NTU staffers had to compile the list from Washington Post archives and Congressional Quarterly Yearly Almanacs. (It takes real work to compile an apples-to-apples, fair list.) Here is that list:
- Nick Mavroules (D-MA). Tax evasion, accepting illegal gratuity, 1992.
- Albert Bustamante (D-TX). Racketeering, 1993.
- Carroll Hubbard (D-KY). Fraud and corruption, 1994.
- Carl Perkins (D-KY). Fraud, 1994.
- Charlie Rose (D-NC). Agreed to pay fine for financial disclosure irregularities, 1994.
- Larry Smith (D-FL). Tax evasion, 1994.
- Dave Durenberger (R-MN). Financial disclosure misdemeanor, 1995.
- Walter Fauntroy (D-DC Delegate). Financial disclosure misdemeanor, 1995.
- Gerald Kleczka (D-WI). Convicted of DWI, 1987. Arrested for DWI, 1990 and 1995.
- Mel Reynolds (D-IL). Sexual misconduct, 1995.
- Walter Tucker (D-CA). Extortion, 1995.
- Charles Wilson (D-TX). Agreed to pay fine to Federal Election Commission, 1995.
- Joe Kolter (D-PA). Fraud and conspiracy, 1996.
- Dan Rostenkowski (D-IL). Mail fraud, 1996.
- Wes Cooley (R-OR). Lying about war record in official voter pamphlet, 1997.
- Jay Kim (R-CA). Campaign finance violations, 1998.
- Mary Rose Oakar (D-OH). Financial disclosure irregularities, 1998.
- Austin J. Murphy (D-PA). Voter fraud, 1999.
By my count: 15 Democrats, 3 Republicans. Since then, we can add James Traficant (D-OH) and Randall Cunningham (R-CA). Call the score 16 to 4, Democrats leading.
That would make Democrats 4 times (or 300%) more corrupt than Republicans.

A Little Gun History Lesson - merrily stolen from Greg
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.
From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents,
unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
In 1911, Turkey established gun control.
From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians,
unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938.
From 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others,
unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated
China established gun control in 1935.
From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents,
unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
Guatemala established gun control in 1964.
From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians,
unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970.
From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians,
unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956.
From 1975 to 1977, one million ' educated ' people,
unable to defend themselves,
were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people who
were rounded up and exterminated
in the 20th Century because of gun control:
56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia
were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms
to be destroyed by their own government,
a program costing Australia taxpayers
more than $500 million dollars.
The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 203.2 percent
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.
Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in,
the criminals did not,
and criminals still possess their guns!
It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a
steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms,
his has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months,
since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults on the ELDERLY.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased,
after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
successfully ridding Australian society of guns.
The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
You won't see this data on the US evening news,

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and
gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control,
please remind him of this history lesson:
With Guns...........We Are 'Citizens'.
Without Them........We Are 'Subjects'.

Brilliant!
The engine that drives our economy is not Wall Street,
its not big-business and, God knows, its not government.
It's consumer spending.
Period.
Instead of pouring money into corporate pockets to bail-out their failed business models,
(whatever the cause)
why not bail-out the consumer?
Representative Louis Gohmert of Texas is proposing that starting 1 January 2009, there should be no withholding for six months on the paychecks of all Americans. People like me who pay their own taxes will not have to file quarterlies. No social security, no unemployment and no income taxes for six months. Put the money directly into family budgets starting with your first check in January. The extra money would have an immediate effect on consumer spending and debt pay-downs. So far the Federal Reserve and King Henry Paulsen have promised over Seven TRILLION dollars in corporate and bank support. Reciepts from withholding equal 106 billion dollars a month to the federal govenment, so a tax moratorium would hit the federal budget for less than a tenth of the current plan and have an immediate and breath-taking effect.
This is brilliant!
This is the way out!
This is the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel!
GET BUSY!
FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!
WE'VE MADE THEM CHANGE COURSE BEFORE, LET'S DO IT NOW!
Call your senator and representative and tell them you support the Gohmert tax holiday plan!
Clog the phones!
Burn the telegraph lines!
Hell, send smoke signals!
Remind them that they work for you!

Let's all adopt the 'Obama Philosophy'
Barack Obama Springs A Leak
Filched from the 'Boortz Blast' - 26 November 2008
Barack Obama discovers a leak under his sink, so he calls Joe the Plumber to come and fix it.
Joe drives to Obama’s house, which is located in a very nice neighborhood and where it’s clear that all the residents make more than $250,000 per year. Joe arrives and takes his tools into the house. Joe is led to the room that contains the leaky pipe under a sink. Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama, who is standing near the door, that it's an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes.
Obama asks Joe how much it will cost.
Joe immediately says, "$9,500."
"$9,500?" Obama asks, stunned. "But you said it's an easy repair!"
"Yes, but what I do is charge a lot more to my clients who make more than $250,000 per year so I can fix the plumbing of everybody who makes less than that for free," explains Joe. "It's always been my philosophy. As a matter of fact, I lobbied government to pass this philosophy as law, and it did pass earlier this year, so now all plumbers have to do business this way. It's known as 'Joe's Fair Plumbing Act of 2008.' Surprised you haven’t heard of it, senator."
In spite of that, Obama tells Joe there's no way he’s paying that much for a small plumbing repair, so Joe leaves.
Obama spends the next hour flipping through the phone book looking for another plumber, but he finds that all other plumbing businesses listed have gone out of business. Not wanting to pay Joe's price, Obama does nothing.
The leak under Obama’s sink goes unrepaired for the next several days. A week later the leak is so bad that Obama has had to put a bucket under the sink. The bucket fills up quickly and has to be emptied every hour, and there's a risk that the room will flood, so Obama calls Joe and pleads with him to return.
Joe goes back to Obama’s house, looks at the leaky pipe, and says "Let's see – this will cost you about $21,000."
"A few days ago you told me it would cost $9,500!" Obama quickly fires back.
Joe explains the reason for the dramatic increase. "Well, because of the 'Joe's Fair Plumbing Act,' a lot of rich people are learning how to fix their own plumbing, so there are fewer of you paying for all the free plumbing I'm doing for the people who make less than $250,000. As a result, the rate I have to charge my wealthy paying customers rises every day. "Not only that, but for some reason the demand for plumbing work from the group of people who get it for free has skyrocketed, and there’s a long waiting list of those who need repairs. This has put a lot of my fellow plumbers out of business, and they’re not being replaced – nobody is going into the plumbing business because they know they won’t make any money. I'm hurting now too – all thanks to greedy rich people like you who won't pay their fair share."
Obama tries to straighten out the plumber: "Of course you're hurting, Joe! Don't you get it? If all the rich people learn how to fix their own plumbing and you refuse to charge the poorer people for your services, you’ll be broke, and then what will you do?"
Joe immediately replies, "Run for president, apparently.”

The true history of the Democratic Party by Larry Elder
Nov 17, 2005
So much for the Republican "outreach" to black voters, with only 2 percent of blacks "approving" of the president's performance.
If only blacks knew of the true history of the Democratic Party.
"Black History Month" has been observed for 29 years, yet many blacks know little to nothing about the parties' respective roles in advancing or hindering the civil rights of blacks. How many blacks know that following the Civil War, 23 blacks -- 13 of them ex-slaves -- were elected to Congress, all as Republicans? The first black Democrat was not elected to Congress until 1935, from the state of Illinois. The first black congressional Democrat from a Southern state was not elected until 1973.
Democrats, in 1854, passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act. This overturned the Missouri Compromise and allowed for the importation of slaves into the territories. Disgusted with the passage of this Act, free-soilers and anti-slavery members of the Whig and Democratic parties founded the Republican Party -- not just to stop the spread of slavery, but to eventually abolish it.
How many blacks know that blacks founded the Texas Republican Party? On July 4, 1867, in Houston, Texas, 150 blacks and 20 whites formed the party. No, not the Black Texas Republican Party, they founded the Texas Republican Party. Blacks across Southern states also founded the Republican parties in their states.
Fugitive slave laws? In 1850, Democrats passed the Fugitive Slave Law. If merely accused of being a slave, even if the person enjoyed freedom all of his or her life (as approximately 11 percent of blacks did just before the Civil War), the person lost the right to representation by an attorney, the right to trial by jury, and the right to habeas corpus.
Emancipation? Republican President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War. In 1865, the 13th Amendment emancipating the slaves was passed with 100 percent of Republicans (88 of 88 in the House, 30 of 30 in the Senate) voting for it. Only 23 percent of Democrats (16 of 66 in the House, 3 of 8 in the Senate) voted for it.
Civil rights laws? In 1868, the 14th Amendment was passed giving the newly emancipated blacks full civil rights and federal guarantee of those rights, superseding any state laws. Every single voting Republican (128 of 134 -- with 6 not voting -- in the House, and 30 of 32 -- with 2 not voting -- in the Senate) voted for the 14th Amendment. Not a single Democrat (zero of 36 in the House, zero of 6 in the Senate) voted for it.
Right to vote? When Southern states balked at implementing the 14th Amendment, Congress came back and passed the 15th Amendment in 1870, guaranteeing blacks the right to vote. Every single Republican voted for it, with every Democrat voting against it.
Ku Klux Klan? In 1872 congressional investigations, Democrats admitted beginning the Klan as an effort to stop the spread of the Republican Party and to re-establish Democratic control in Southern states. As PBS' "American Experience" notes, "In outright defiance of the Republican-led federal government, Southern Democrats formed organizations that violently intimidated blacks and Republicans who tried to win political power. The most prominent of these, the Ku Klux Klan, was formed in Pulaski, Tenn., in 1865." Blacks, who were all Republican at that time, became the primary targets of violence.
Jim Crow laws? Between 1870 and 1875, the Republican Congress passed many pro-black civil rights laws. But in 1876, Democrats took control of the House, and no further race-based civil rights laws passed until 1957. In 1892, Democrats gained control of the House, the Senate and the White House, and repealed all the Republican-passed civil rights laws. That enabled the Southern Democrats to pass the Jim Crow laws, poll taxes, literacy tests, and so on, in their individual states.
Civil rights in the '60s? Only 64 percent of Democrats in Congress voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act (153 for, 91 against in the House; and 46 for, 21 against in the Senate). But 80 percent of Republicans (136 for, 35 against in the House; and 27 for, 6 against in the Senate) voted for the 1964 Act.
What about the reviled, allegedly anti-black, Republican "Southern strategy"? Pat Buchanan, writing for Richard Nixon (who became the Republican Party candidate two years later) coined the term "Southern strategy." They expected the "strategy" to ultimately result in the complete marginalization of racist Southern Democrats. "We would build our Republican Party on a foundation of states' rights, human rights, small government, and a strong national defense," said Buchanan, "and leave it to the 'party of [Democratic Georgia Gov. Lester] Maddox, [1966 Democratic challenger against Spiro Agnew for Maryland governor George] Mahoney, and [Democratic Alabama Gov. George] Wallace to squeeze the last ounces of political juice out of the rotting fruit of racial injustice.'" And President Richard Nixon, Republican, implemented the first federal affirmative action (race-based preference) laws with goals and timetables.
So next "Black History Month," pass some of this stuff along.

Whereas, on or about the night prior to Christmas, there did occur at a certain improved piece of real property (hereinafter "the House") a general lack of stirring by all creatures therein, including, but not limited to, a mouse.
A variety of foot apparel, e.g. stocking, socks, etc., had been affixed by and around the chimney in said House in the hope and/or belief that St. Nick -- a.k.a. St. Nicholas, a.k.a. Santa Claus -- (hereinafter "Claus") would arrive at sometime thereafter. The minor residents, i.e. the children, of the aforementioned House were located in their individual beds and were engaged in nocturnal hallucinations, i.e. dreams, wherein vision of confectionery treats, including, but not limited to, candies, nuts and/or sugar plums, did dance, cavort and otherwise appear in said dreams.
Whereupon the party of the first part (sometimes hereinafter referred to as "I"), being the joint owner in fee simple of the House with the parts of the second part (hereinafter "Mamma"), and said Mamma had retired for a sustained period of sleep. (At such time, the parties were clad in various forms of headgear, e.g. kerchief and cap.)
Suddenly, and without prior notice or warning, there did occur upon the unimproved real property adjacent and appurtenant to said House, i.e. the lawn, a certain disruption of unknown nature, cause and/or circumstance. The party of the first part did immediately rush to a window in the House to investigate the cause of such disturbance. At that time, the party of the first part did observe, with some degree of wonder and/or disbelief, a miniature sleigh (hereinafter "the Vehicle") being pulled and/or drawn very rapidly through the air by approximately eight (8) reindeer. The driver of the Vehicle appeared to be and in fact was, the previously referenced Claus. Said Claus was providing specific direction, instruction and guidance to the approximately eight (8) reindeer and specifically identified the animal co-conspirators by name: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen (hereinafter "the Deer"). (Upon information and belief, it is further asserted that an additional co-conspirator named "Rudolph" may have been involved.)
The party of the first part witnessed Claus, the Vehicle and the Deer intentionally and willfully trespass upon the roofs of several residences located adjacent to and in the vicinity of the House, and noted that the Vehicle was heavily laden with packages, toys and other items of unknown origin or nature. Suddenly, without prior invitation or permission, either express or implied, the Vehicle arrived at the House, and Claus entered said House via the chimney. Said Claus was clad in a red fur suit, which was partially covered with residue from the chimney, and he carried a large sack containing a portion of the aforementioned packages, toys and other unknown items. He was smoking what appeared to be tobacco in a small pipe in blatant violation of local ordinances and health regulations.
Claus did not speak, but immediately began to fill the stocking of the minor children, which hung adjacent to the chimney, with toys and other small gifts. (Said items did not, however, constitute "gifts" to said minor pursuant to the applicable provisions of the U.S. Tax Code.) Upon completion of such task, Claus touched the side of his nose and flew, rose and/or ascended up the chimney of the House to the roof where the Vehicle and Deer waited and/or served as "lookouts." Claus immediately departed for an unknown destination.
However, prior to the departure of the Vehicle, Deer and Claus from said House, the party of the first part did hear Claus state and/or exclaim: "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!" Or words to that effect.

The informed democratic voter...
It's taken seventy years and billions spent in the government indoctrination camps, but they finally have the plebs they wanted. Behold! This is how you kill a colossus. Is there time to repair the damage without violence? How do you counter apathy and ignorance?
I hope we take this man's advice

From a speech by President Theodore Roosevelt
“There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all... The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic... There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.”

Quotes from Comrade President Obama
From Dreams of My Father

'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'
'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'
'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'
'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'
'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

In 2003 as Hurricane Isabelle was approaching Washington DC , the Senate & House took two days off in anticipation of the storm. On the ABC evening news, it was reported that because of the dangers from the hurricane, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment. They respectfully declined the offer. Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a service person.

Change we can believe in
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.
With Enron, you would have $16.50 left of the original $1000.
With WorldCom, you would have less than $5.00 left.
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.
If you had purchased United Airlines, you would have nothing left.
But, if you had purchased $1000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for recycling, you would have $214.00.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
This is called the 401-Keg Plan

A letter to a dear friend
Joolz,
It is a beautiful day in America.
I think it's wonderful that we can elect a black man as president. I always knew it was possible, but I honestly thought it would be from the party that was founded to end slavery, not the party that ran the Jim-Crow south.
However, did it have to be a socialist? Do we really have to kill the republic to do it? Make no mistake; that is exactly what the democrats will do. They and the republicans have been running a constitutional republic as if it was a democracy for 80 years, and I fear that this is the icing on that particular cake. We must have some joint effort to keep a viable civilization, but what makes them believe that they can pull-off such mass collectivization when the effort to do so keeps every country that has attempted it on the verge of bankruptcy?
What gives them the right to confiscate the money that has been earned by me and give it to someone who has not? I don't "exploit the masses." I'm guilty of no crime that would warrant such a seizure. Shouldn't charity be a personal choice rather than at the point of the Internal Revenue's gun?
I really don't look forward to being triaged by our coming national health service. (That's what would happen to me in England today because of my health. I would be denied any services.) And that's what our new President is going to bring. My life will quite literally be shortened by yesterdays vote.
Don't think I'm any more pleased with the republicans. They have proven themselves to be as great a mass of self-serving and incompetent fools as has ever been assembled and to have them out on their rear ends is good riddance to bad trash, but this is too far a swing away from the center.
Remember the practical definition of a democracy: Two wolves and one sheep voting on dinner. The sheep will lose every time.
But do enjoy the sunshine of the victory!
I only pray that his national police force doesn't find any of our future actions objectionable. (I believe that this missive would be enough) Ask yourself why a President of the United States, the leader of the strongest armed force on the planet, would need a private domestic armed force that he says he wants of equal strength to the military. Want to make a bet that they won't be subject to 'Posse Comitatus'? Name the amount and I'll cover the bet. (FYI: The Posse Comitatus Act limits the powers of the federal government to use the military for law enforcement.) He wants a national police force in case he needs to use it against the citizenry! There is no other logical reason for a State Police. This guy's world-view terrifies me.
Remember that while the democrats are quick to call conservatives Nazi's, the National Socialist Party of Germany was in fact a liberal, socialist movement. They too were welcomed into power with much rejoicing and with a leader with incredible personal magnetism.
They enacted a "Fairness Doctrine" to control the media.
They nationalized the health services.
They radicalized the school systems.
They preached against the excesses of capitalism.
They grabbed control of entire industries via the unions.
That experiment did not turn out well.
I hope and pray that your confidence in Comrade President Obama is warranted. I hope he winds up being a brilliant president and leads us wisely. I pray to God-on-high that this will be so. I hope the rainbows and unicorns he's conjured in his speeches appear. But as of now, all I can go on is what the man has said concerning his policies, and what he has said, the words I've heard from his very lips, give me no comfort.
Welcome to the Peoples Republic of the United States.
Yours,
Demosthenes
